Love Watching

Who doesn't love a love story?  Okay, so many boys don't, but most of us girls enjoy a good love story.  Recently, I've been re-watching Sense and Sensibility.  I have two versions, the Emma Thompson version and the BBC version.  I can't decide which is my favorite.  I sort of like the BBC one since most of the faces are not familiar. But, who doesn't like Emma Thompson, really?
I noticed that Martha has shared her list of favorite romantic movies for February.  I'm sure they're all her personal favorites.  Check out the list here. there may be many you haven't seen.  I think I've only seen four out of the 18 on the list.

*I just found another list of movies at BHG.  They have 28 recommendations.

Here are some of my favorites:

I just watched The Goodbye Girl for the first time in years and years.  It's pretty sappy, but still enjoyable.

I've always loved Sleepless in Seattle.  Good ole Meg Ryan, she always gave a cute, girl-next-door presence to her movies.

Return to Me - such a sweet story.  What are the chances that would really happen?

You've Got Mail - another Meg Ryan movie.  Listening to the old dial up internet is funny.

Pride and Prejudice - Definitely the Colin Firth BBC version!!

Okay, that's enough. This could go on and on. What love stories are your favorites? Help me add to my list!  Gotta add to my Netflix queue!

Valentine Peek

We may go watch a black and white movie on Sunday.  A local theater is showing "It Happened One Night" with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert.  I've never seen it.  It won several Oscars when it premiered.  It sounds like a fun thing to do.

I thought I'd show you my little Valentines for this year.  These two recipients have already received theirs.

I have two more to show, but not until after Sunday. I'm not the most creative collage artist out there, but they were certainly fun to play with.

Classic Movies

I love old movies.  We have a local movie buff group that supports a Classic Movie Night once a month in a local theater.  Last Sunday night was the January movie.  I enlisted some girlfriends and we went to see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.  This movie was made in 1954 and starred Jane Powell, Howard Keel and Julie Newmar.  Julie Newmar is best known as Catwoman.  The theater was packed, as usual.  Prizes were won for trivia questions answered correctly.  Why is a simple thing so much fun?  Here's a clip from the movie.  Check it out here and maybe go rent it.

Coco and Cookies

Yesterday I baked cookies. Easy, yummy, chocolatey cookies. They have oatmeal in them too. Mmmmm, good!
We also watched movies, although Buddy watched Rachael do Math homework. I think he was really watching the Goldfish bag on her left.
We enjoyed the Lifetime Network's three hour biography of Coco Chanel. She was ingenious. Did you know she began by designing hats? I definitely want to read more. Oh to be so talented, or just to wear some of the clothes! Yeah, that would do.
Maynards Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup margarine (I use butter)
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 cup oatmeal
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 lb chocolate chips

Mix margarine and sugars; add eggs and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients and mix well. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes on ungreased baking sheet.
Makes 4 dozen.

This recipe was from my MIL and has become our favorite. Enjoy!
