I had some new instructions on how to take pictures of the moon.  

Since we had such a lovely subject the other day, I decided to try them out.  

I'm pretty happy with the results. 

I think it was a success! Use a fast shutter speed, set your camera to spot metering, use a telephoto lens, a tripod and I set my White Balance to daylight.  (I'm not sure about that last setting). Any other suggestions would be welcome.

New Tweets

I have.  Barely.
I just don't get it.

Twitter, not so much.

There has been a lot of tweeting going on over here recently.  The pretty, amazing kind of tweeting.  I'm familiar with Finches, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Chickadees, Juncos and even a Tufted Titmouse.  But, there are some birds we've been seeing lately that are new to us.  I've shown you an occasional Egret, Quail or Roadrunner. 

Recently I've seen some gorgeous birds.  This Roadrunner was trying to get out of my way. 

I was walking SO FAST.  

This is a Spotted Towhee.  I had to get out the bird book.

Last week HH and I saw an Oriole on our walk.

Wednesday a beautiful bird flew in front of my car.
I had to go home and look him up too.  It ended up being a Western Tanager.

See, there's been a lot of tweeting going on here lately!  

Anybody Out There?

Whew!  What have you all been up to? There's been a lot going on around here lately, that's why I've been MIA.  I just got home from a wonderful trip, so I thought I'd give you a little glimpse of what I've been doing.  HH and I went with friends to The Sequoia National Park to hike for two days.

 A year ago, I wouldn't have been able to do this. It was so much fun!

 We climbed the 400 steps to the top of Moro Rock which is a 797 foot stairway. 

Too bad it was pretty much fogged in.

 Part of the stairs were snow packed and tricky, our hiking poles were very important. 

 We hiked about 4 hours each day and were definitely off the beaten path.

Everywhere we looked was incredible beauty.

I took so many pictures that you may get really sick of seeing them. 

I promise I won't post all 500+ of them. Plan on seeing them for a little while, though. 

What A Sight!

I know you probably come here to see a little craftiness or maybe antiquing and decorating.  There has been some of that going on, but what has really captured my camera this week has been some beautiful and crazy weather patterns.  It is an ever changing entertainment.

Roses Are Red?

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I had no self control.

They were just all so beautiful.

Hail?

It's pretty unusual for us to get rain in June, or much rain any time of the year.  Today, June 3rd, we've had lots of thunder, a little rain and now hail.  Now that's really weird.  I didn't think to take pictures immediately.  These are a couple of minutes afterwards.  

See, Roses and hail.  What a strange combination.  It's a particularly exciting day for Buddy.  Trash trucks, thunder and hail all in the same day!  Whew!

God is In the Details

We had a chorus of goldfinch and a house finch on our fountain this morning. I think they were enjoying the cooler weather, too. See if you can count how many there were. One is hiding.

I was thinking how easy it is during this tumultuous time in our country to lose our focus and get consumed by worry. You and I need to keep our focus on the bigger picture of life, be wise in decision making and seek our Lord's guidance. These verses below are helpful to me in situations where I have no control.

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?. . . But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Matthew 6: 26-27, 33-34.

God is In the Details

Isn't God creative? These beautiful grapes are from my friend and neighbor, Sheryl's, back yard. They are very yummy and beautiful.

God Is In the Details

No, this isn't the prettiest picture, but is undoubtable proof that there is a God. Signs of new life exist EVERYWHERE. Even where you don't want them. Below is another sign of new life. A much cuter one, at that. Goodness she is adorable, isn't she.

I think Sunday's are going to be titled "God is in the Details". If we pay attention, we can see God everywhere. In this picture these roses from my garden are delicate, beautiful and painful if you don't handle them correctly. "Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these." Luke 12:27
