Liberty Love

I just happened to notice Wednesday evening that Purl Soho was having a big sale on EVERYTHING to celebrate their 10th Anniversary.  So, I hopped right over and bought this little bundle of luciousness.  (Funny how spellcheck doesn't recognize that word). This is a bundle of Liberty of London fabrics.  A small bundle, I might add.  But, oh, the beauty it delivers!  I discovered Liberty fabrics maybe 20 years ago when I was living in Tennessee and sewing all my girls' clothing.  I enjoyed smocking and heirloom sewing, shadow embroidery and pattern drafting.  But, Liberty of London fabrics, I could not afford.  I did end up making one dress out of it for my youngest a little later.  If I can locate a picture, I'll add it in. Update: FINALLY found a picture. It helped that she was small and it didn't take up too much fabric.  I have sung the praises of this beautiful cotton ever since.

Here is a sampling of the beautiful fabrics included in my bundle.

Oh how I wish you could feel it. I may use them for something like this beautiful inspiration wall. Have you used Liberty's fabrics for a project?

Amy Butler Linens

The Queen of Midwest Modern has ventured into bed linens.
Not only that, they're reasonably priced and accessible!
These are just a few of the patterns available by Amy Butler from
Bed, Bath and Beyond!

Things are crazy around here at the moment.  So, posting is going to be sparse.  I know you wait with baited breath for my next posts. Seriously, I really appreciate those who visit me and I promise I'll be back soon.  I'll probably have pictures from Nell Hill's and Curious Sofa!  See you soon!

Classics

I was excited to get two of these beautiful Penguin Classics for Christmas. I bought the third with a gift card. Who doesn't love a romance where the poor, underdog heroine gets the fabulous, handsome, richest guy on the block. Well, maybe not in Jane Eyre, he was rich, though.
I've read them all before, but am starting over with Pride and Prejudice. It's going to take awhile. I usually only read at bed time. That doesn't last long. I'll have to again get used to the backwards way Jane Austen wrote, or is it the way the English form their sentences. Either way, it's a slow go.
It's no surprise that you can get them at Anthropologie, our favorite source for all things unique and gorgeous. We have heavy duty rain today.  You can find me under the afghan with Jane.

Treasures

This magnetic chalk board will come in handy by the back door.
Christmas garland made out of cans.
I'm not sure why some things strike my fancy on any particular day.  I was told that these were high heel shoe display stands.  I'm not so sure.  I actually tried to sit shoes on them and it didn't work at all.  What do you think these are?
I love this darling purse and will use it this Christmas.  The sign is an award for some kind of Agriculture competition.  Some of the signs were about cows.  I'm not sure about this one.
This is my favorite purchase.  It's a route sign from a double decker UK Bus.  These are very popular lately and you can find reproductions in common catalogs.  I love it.

* I'm adding this to Melissa's Beautiful Life Friday.  Visit other blogs who are participating here.  See more of our fun day at the Rose Bowl Flea market with other Southern California bloggers here.

Hardware Christmas

I have a special affection for antique hardware. It's all too easy to find on ebay. I think I'm going to use these in my Christmas decorations. I'm sure you'd rather see the final results than the piles of raw material. That's all I have for you at this point.  We'll see if my ideas turn out at all.

Taylor Linens

When my DH and I were out on Monday I came across this line of bedding that I had not seen before.  It is Taylor Linens.  Most of the pictures I'm posting today are patriotic or nautical in feel.  But, they have many other designs.  Some are sweet cottage patchwork quilts and others are simple matelasse. This is when it would be good to know how to make a collage of photos.  They also have cabin and fishing inspired pillows, beautiful lacy shams and linen bed skirts.  I was particularly drawn to the beautiful aprons and pajamas.  I bought a white cotton night shirt that is so beautiful.  I couldn't find it on their website and you can be sure I'm NOT going to model it for you!  Take a look at their website here.  I think it may just be wholesale, but you could find a location near you.

Curious Sofa Field Trip

A very nice man who works at Curious Sofa, I think his name was Dana, offered to take our picture.

Isn't this castle just fabulous?
Sorry this is blurry, but I loved this display.
The ceilings are reclaimed from an old building on The Plaza, I think. Don't quote me.
DD1 loved this vintage leather rocker for just $250. I thought that was a great buy. It is in perfect condition.

As you can see from my previous post that I ended up in Kansas City this past week for very scary and difficult reasons. Thankfully, my Dad is doing very well. He was a star patient and is home, taking it slow and easy. I'm headed home tomorrow.

On Monday afternoon, while we had some extra time, my daughter and I went to visit Curious Sofa. My parents bought me a gift certificate from there for my birthday in April. The catch was that I had to come home in order to use it. Of course, we didn't think I'd come home for these reasons. I took some not-so-good pictures at Curious Sofa. I didn't have my favorite camera. I must move too much with the little point and shoot. Here are some pictures of the store. I'll post photos of what I bought after I get home.

SO CUTE!

Look at what I just ordered! This are minicards from Moo.com. They are tiny business cards or for whatever you want to use them for. These are some of the ready made designs. You can also use your own photos. Alas, I stink as a photographer at this point. I tried to use some of my knitting photos, but they weren't so great. Check MOO out!
