Stash Confessions

I occasionally get sucked in by a beautiful skein of yarn.  Somehow they tend to be handspun and/or variegated. I usually give in and buy only one skein.  Then the dilemma begins.  What in the world do I make with just one skein? They are often very small skeins with very big price tags.  Above is my newest purchase.  It is from a local spinner that has her own animals.  Thank goodness for Ravelry. It certainly helps with the decision making.
This is Zanziba by Colinette Yarns. See what I mean?  Luscious and variegated, thick and thin, GORGEOUS! What to do, what to do?
A few weeks ago, I showed you the beginnings of a new knitting project from one lowly skein.  I decided to make Teva Durham's Leaf Cravat.
You can find the pattern at Interweave Press. The cravat is finally finished.  It sat for several days without being touched.  I think it turned out pretty darn cute.  I'll let you know next Winter if it was good for keeping me warm.  On to the next project.

  3. Love your beautiful scarf! Oh so pretty yarn. I don't tend to do this with yarn but I have the tendency to buy one random bit of fabric. One of the most gorgeous scarves I made was just grabbing random skeins of yarn and knitting. I just kept adding a new skein as I ran out. It came out rather funky and fun!

  4. these are such lovely yarns, I can well understand your desire to buy them, perhaps you can simply find a way to display them and simply enjoy their beauty.

  6. There is some yarn that you just have to buy because it is pretty, and you want to look at it.
    PRETTY!

  8. Wow, your project is so great. turned out wonderful. You always inspire me to knit, but, as yet, I have not wanted to get into one more new thing.

  10. I love your leaf cravat - and the photo of it with the plant in the background (what a clever echo of the 'leaves' in the scarf). Knitting is one of those things that eludes me . . . I love to crochet, but how many afghans does my family need?
