Hot Fudge Sauce

Her identity is hidden in order to protect the innocent, or guilty as the case may be.

We had a Sundae Social for our church women this week.  Basically the ladies met to talk (duh) and made homemade sundaes.  We provided the ice cream and everybody brought a topping. Fresh strawberries are in season here so they were yummy.  Someone brought broken up Oreos and another brought homemade carmel sauce.  I made hot fudge sauce.  I used a recipe from Better Homes and Gardens in 1999!

I had 5 recipes to chose from, I'm still not sure which is the best. I think I need to make them all in one sitting and try them all out.  What do you think? How else will I know which one is the best?

Hot Fudge Sauce

1/2 c unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
3 Tbsp butter
1/2 cup whipping cream

In a small bowl stir together cocoa powder and sugars, set aside.  In a heavy small saucepan melt butter with cream over low heat, stirring constantly.  Cook and stir over medium heat about 3 minutes or until mixture bubbles around edges.  Add sugar mixture.  Cook, stirring constantly, for 1 to 2 minutes more until sugar is dissolved and mixture is smooth and thickened.  Serve immediately.  Or, cover and store in a refrigerator up to one week.  To reheat on stovetop, in a small heavy saucepan stir sauce frequently over low heat.  To reheat in microwave place chilled topping in a 2-cup measure.  Microwave for 1 to 2 minutes till heated through.
