Apple Goodness

I had some company last night and decided to make Ina Garten's Apple Crostata. You can find it here. It was very easy and turned out really yummy. So, good, in fact, that I had it for breakfast! It's fruit right? Sorry my pictures are blurry, my husband took the good camera to Israel.

Weaving Attempt

This is my first attempt at weaving. I actually took a class and this was the result. I really like it, but don't look at the edges. Unfortunately I haven't tried this since. But I want to.

Pretty Organization

I am a list maker. A friend recently shared that she never writes lists in an attempt to keep her mind sharp. Yikes! I have been a list maker for as long as I can remember. Does that mean my mind is going down the tubes? I hope not. Well, if I'm going to make lists (and I always will) then I can do it on a pretty notepad. I have a new favorite note pad. I bought this cute mouse/note pad and really love it. You can find it here. There are four styles and they are all lovely. It's a twofer, mouse pad and note pad in one! I love calenders too. I used to make my own on notebook paper in college, which I still have, by the way. I needed to see the entire month at a time. If you are a week-at-a-time person, I just don't get it. Anyway, I absolutely love this calender below. Evidently so do many others because it is backordered. I think it is lovely, but where would I write all my stuff?

Aren't these wonderful boxes/tote thingies? They are from Hable Construction but also found at SeeJaneWork. I confess I'm also a pile maker. I think these would come in handy. Just think how good my piles would look. Oooooo, and the knitting they would hold.

Book Love

A new knitting book hit my knitting store recently. The cover grabs you and the inside does not disappoint. I can't wait to try out one of its cute patterns! I had scanned some of the possible patterns, but alas, that computer has yet again DIED!!!!!

Look at what I just ordered! This are minicards from They are tiny business cards or for whatever you want to use them for. These are some of the ready made designs. You can also use your own photos. Alas, I stink as a photographer at this point. I tried to use some of my knitting photos, but they weren't so great. Check MOO out!

Staircase Love

These are a couple of my FAVORITE staircase pictures. You can tell by the last picture that I have hung pictures similarly. But, I'm now trying to decide what color to paint these walls. I love this blue. But I always gravitate toward this blue. This picture is from California Homes magazine. This staircase is very neutral, but I think it's beautiful. I'm sure its the combination of wood floor, black accents and gilt frames. I also love the toile and checked fabrics in the living room. This picture is from Better Homes & Gardens, 2004.
Here's my staircase. Of course, the photography isn't nearly as good. There are no rays of sunlight streaming down and bouncing off the beautiful wood floors. Maybe someday. It has potential though. The light blue/gray is a possibility. Any suggestions?

Pink Sweater

I just finished this pink sweater and I love it! The pattern is Neckdown Summer Cardigan from Knitting Pure & Simple. I changed it up because I used a heavier yarn than it called for, so I'm thrilled that it fits! It's going to get a lot of wear.

Fall Beauty

I have several magazine clippings of beautiful Fall decorations. Evidently this one is a favorite of many. Some of these are so old, so I have no idea what magazines they came from. This first one is from Holiday Celebrations 2003.
Below is an extremely simple and inexpensive idea. I did something similar to this for Christmas with paper snowflakes. I'll have to show you that sometime.
This is my favorite picture from the current issue of Country Living. FABULOUS!
Holiday Celebrations 2003.

Holiday Celebrations 2003
Below is another simple, inexpensive tablescape. While the pumpkin above is gorgeous, this is just as beautiful with fresh fruit and candles. My problem is that I would want this to last a lot longer than is possible.
These next two pictures were very tiny pictures from the current issue of Country Living. Not only do I love the beautiful pottery, but using what you have and giving it an Autumn feel goes well with a Less-Is-More philosophy.

Cup Of Tea?

A hot cup of English Breakfast Tea is wonderful on a cool Fall morning. I used the last of the tea I bought at Harrod's last Fall, which makes me sad. I need to go back! When we were in London I bought the little teapot in the first photo. It's fabulous. Can a teapot can be fabulous? It's probably not made in England, but I bought it at our hotel which, by the way, served the most wonderful breakfasts. It was probably a typical English breakfast, but oh so different than ours here in the States. So, anyway, you have to buy tea and a teapot when in England, that's my opinion.

Look What I Found

Aren't these adorable? I found these here. I think these would be a cute addition to my Fall decorating, even if they're little.

Beautiful Entry

This beautiful entry is from an article in the November '08 issue of Country Living. The entire home is beautiful. My entry is still builder's white and I'm needing entry inspiration. I love how the candle light makes all the different metallics glow so beautifully. This would definitely be an easy fallscape to replicate. So lovely.

God is In the Details

We had a chorus of goldfinch and a house finch on our fountain this morning. I think they were enjoying the cooler weather, too. See if you can count how many there were. One is hiding.

I was thinking how easy it is during this tumultuous time in our country to lose our focus and get consumed by worry. You and I need to keep our focus on the bigger picture of life, be wise in decision making and seek our Lord's guidance. These verses below are helpful to me in situations where I have no control.

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?. . . But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
Matthew 6: 26-27, 33-34.

Special Delivery

The Currey and Company lamp that I posted awhile back has found a home. This isn't the spot that I originally bought it for, but it's I think it's pretty here.

Do you ever wonder?

Do you ever wonder if your mind is going? While making hotel reservations today I almost made a HUGE error and reserved them for the wrong night. Almost. Caught myself. Then later, I misplaced my Visa card. Couldn't find it ANYWHERE! I was pretty sure I had used it today, but not 100%. It doesn't help that I know the number by memory, that's for sure. Found it tucked neatly in a little book where I keep usernames and passwords. That's not my billfold! Then tonight I received a phone call from the newlyweds that I had messed up their reservation for their last night at a hotel and made it for last night! All I can say is MARRIOTT ROCKS! Hopefully this isn't a pattern. That would be scary.

One-Skein Clutch

This is just to prove that I actually do finish old knitting projects. I have no idea when I started this clutch. It ended up longer than the one in the picture probably because I picked it up and put it back down so many times with lots of time in between.

In the end, it turned out really cute. I didn't use 1 skein, however. I wanted it to be this color and therefore used two strands of a lighter weight yarn which necessitated two skeins. Couldn't tell you what yarn since it's been so long and the labels are long gone. The question is, will I use it? But it is so darn cute! The buttons are Czech buttons from Findings in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Me and Jamie Lee

I get told ALL THE TIME that I look like Jamie Lee Curtis. I've always thought it was just the hair, so I thought I'd have a look and see what you think? Mine is definitely whiter. Maybe I should be her stand in? Ha! One thing is for sure, we're NOT built the same.

This photo is from (it was the first picture that came up, okay)!
