Vintage Dishtowel Search

I just got back from JoAnn Fabrics. I've decided to start an embroidery project to take on my next trip.  We fly for HOURS and I wanted to take a small project that I can be sure will get on the plane both going and coming home. I have two vintage dish towels with terriers on them. They are from a set of Day-Of-The-Week towels. I only have Monday and Tuesday. They are not Scottie dogs, either. They are Buddys. I've been watching for transfers on Ebay and Etsy and I haven't quite found what I'm looking for. But, I thought I'd show you what I found today.

Did you know that JoAnn's still sells Aunt Martha's embroidery transfers? They also carry vintage looking dishtowels on which to do the embroidery. I didn't. You can also find them at Colonial Patterns.

You can find lovely vintage dishtowels on Etsy and Ebay.  These are adorable and unused! Look at all that detail!

I especially love Scottie Dog day of the week dishtowels. These are also vintage and can be purchased here. Below are the two I have and am looking to complete the set. I especially love the knitting one. If I made more of these the kitty would have to be a Calico for our Daisy that we had for 12+ years. They didn't live together as well as these two, I'm afraid.

  1. How cute! I have always loved those kind of dishtowels. Old, but good memories.

  3. These are so neat. My Stepmom gave me some projects to try and she taught me a few stitches. We'll see how I do on mine.
Good to know about those at JoAnn's. I'll have to check them out if I manage to master a stitch or two.

  5. Hey Karen, thanks for stopping by...I wanted to let you know that most of my bottle collection are diffuser bottles. The scented oil thingies with the reeds/sticks. Once the fragrance is gone, it makes for great bottle collecting! I hope that makes sense! :)
Love the vintage towels...I collect them too, I have a lot from my mom and granny, and grandmother...love them!

  6. I just love vintage dish towels and have not made my own yet. I have the iron on, but not the actual towels. Please let us know if you have any trouble bringing your project on the plane. I wanted to bring a cross stitch when I flew last fall and was worried about the needle. If they took it, I would not be able to stitch. :o)
    Have a nice evening.
    Sincerely ~ Tricia

  7. What adorable dish towels. I love the Scottoe dog days of the week ones. Several years ago I purchased a set of Martha Stewart days of the week towels, but they weren't nearly this cute. And what a perfect travel project - can't wait to see the end result!
    Have a great weekend,
    Leah
