If you've been around here visiting before, you've probably seen Belgian Waffles time and again. You've seen chocolate ones, buttermilk, strawberry or blueberry covered. I had actually thought ahead last week, SHOCKER, and bought buttermilk and eggs. I figured I'd make waffles for breakfast one day this weekend. Well, I was at a cooking class last Tuesday at Williams-Sonoma. The class was actually on making fresh pasta. Which I can't wait to try soon. As I was checking out, their tempting catalog was sitting by the register. I thumbed through it and saw this recipe for Praline Waffles. I decided to try it tonight for dinner. U N B E L I E V A B L E! It was so good and RICH, that it's going to have to be saved for special occasions. Goodness gracious, it was yummy. Check it out, you'll love it!

Spring Pinning
It's been beautiful here in SoCal and Spring is has begun. I just wanted to brighten things up a little bit here on Elderberry Street. That means a new header soon. I've been working on a new project for another Women's event. I'll fill you in this week. I'm going to need to go back to a more strict comments process for awhile. I've been inundated with spam. Sorry about that. Have a great weekend everybody!

Gardens, Antiques and No Burger
I drove to Carlsbad yesterday to meet with my Landscape Designer and the contractor to look at a project in a beautiful neighborhood there. Gorgeous landscapes were all over the neighborhood. This one got our attention right away with it's beautiful Autumn Flame stone bridge and "stream bed" of chunky, glittering stones. It was stunning.
This yard is more of what we're going to be using in our yard. Probably not as heavily packed. Lavender, rosemary, New Zealand flax, Sea Lavender and Daisies, all drought tolerant. Unfortunately the pictures aren't quite as clear.
Their neighbors had this incredible piece of art in the front yard. I couldn't keep my eyes off of it.
The flowers spun in the wind.
On the way home I stopped by the Urban Barn in Escondido. I totally forgot that I wanted to visit
Paper Source in Carlsbad as well. I was really looking forward to it too! Geez!
Do you need a huge birdcage,
or glittered tissue paper flowers?
This booth had tons of crafting supplies
I love the collection of giant letters,
and the sweet heart lavender sachet.
So, what did I come home with you ask?
First, this little scale because she had a red top! Notice the UNEATEN Valentine candy. Yes, thank you very much. I HAVE been a good girl, well, relatively speaking.
Secondly, I came home with this big mortar and pestle. Since my Grandpa Stone was a pharmacist I've always thought of him whenever I've seen these. He's below in middle with the white shirt. This is how I remember him.

Nurseries, Antiques and A Burger
I had a lovely day last Friday with my friend Nancy.
We visited four different nurseries in a search for plants and pots.
This is a lantern that they filled with cuttings of succulents. It was my FAVORITE!
Myrtle Creek Nursery had a fun gift shop and some antiques. This little lady had a fur collar.
And really cute napping kitties.
This lovely lady was also my FAVORITE! Unfortunately she was $700.
We had to stop for a Nessy Burger. As you can see it's right by a main road and the freeway. We could've had girl scout cookies for dessert, if we'd had room.
It's a popular place and the burgers are delicious! We shared.
It was a lovely day.

The Ones You Love
I hope you all spent a wonderful Valentine's Day with the ones you love. I traipsed into the city to hang with my guy for a couple of days. I made my homemade Valentine's kind of at the last minute. February creeped up on me somehow. My cards this year were VERY simple since I didn't have much time. In fact, family members out of town will be getting theirs late. It's never too late to tell someone you love them, though, right? Now, don't get me wrong, they hear it all the time from me. I would show you said Valentine cards, but the photos are in my big camera that is still at the house. It's a problem. I'll have to show you in a couple of days. Does anybody out there make homemade Valentine's anymore? Did you write a love letter to your sweetheart? We went out to dinner and then our usual date spot, Barnes and Noble. I saw this adorable wreath in the current Mollie Makes issue. Very cute, isn't it? Should I dare say, plan ahead for next year? Nah, but I think I will "pin" it into my Valentine Board to keep track of it.

Winter Decorating
Since this week is Valentine's week, I thought I'd show you my "winter" decorations before I change them. I have to pretend its winter, although it's fairly cool today here. I started with my little collection of ironstone pitchers.
I bought the little deer for a snow globe before Christmas. This is where he ended up.
This is a photo of my girls and their daddy ice skating in our back yard when we lived in Massachusetts.
Hope you liked my little peek at winter. I'll be adding some hearts to the mix this week.
