Come Take A Walk With Me

Yesterday, I woke up nice and early to a beautiful sunrise. Now, I'm not usually an early riser.  Seven is early enough for me. Problem is, we didn't have window coverings till today. One night the moon even woke me up, shining in my eyes. Pictures of the new woven roman shades will come later.
Later I decided to take a walk.
As you can see, a walk in my new neighborhood is quite the workout.
This is the neighbor's yard. Well, nobody owns it yet.  So, I walked right up and took pictures.
I peeked in too.
Down the street are beautiful homes and ranches.
This is one of the hills on the way home.  I'm not exaggerating.  It's steep.
I also took wildflower photos, but my iPhone didn't perform that well. Maybe next time I can walk far enough to take pictures of the horses, cows or sheep.

Helpful Husband

Are you getting sick of photos of my furniture rearrangement? Just to warn you there will probably be a few more. I had envisioned this as the perfect spot for my antique armoire. That alone limited my vision for the living room. I had several friends give me input and even help me rearrange the furniture.  Nothing worked. It's sometimes difficult to fit furniture from an old house into a new one.
Well, leave it to my HH to have another idea.  One that worked!
Yay!  It will look much better after Thursday when roman shade are going up.
Someday crown molding, a new paint color and draperies. All in good time.
I think the HUGE mirror will be put up this next weekend. It's a two-man job and I mean MAN, not man and wife job. It's seriously heavy, but it will reflect the view beautifully. Don't worry, there will be some pictures put up this week too. And you just thought you'd seen enough. Don't think so.

Make N Do Decorating

Unpacking is making slow and steady progress.
I'm decorating little spots in order to make it feel more like home. It's interesting to use only what I've unpacked to this point. Basically, make n do with what I've got. You know, taking pictures of your house has it's benefits. It definitely lends itself to picking up the clutter and dusting in order for your photos to be presentable. At least that's one of the benefits at this house!
There are plenty of boxes still hanging around.  I definitely think the color is gonna be achanging in the Family Room.
It's funny that I've had these reproduction wing back chairs for 16 years. Recently I've seen them popping up again in decorating magazines. Restoration Hardware has some similar ones in linen.  Veranda magazine has one almost exactly like these in their April issue.  I love it that I'm back "in style". This poor plant has been traumatized in this move.  It spent too many days outside.
I like this antique armoire here, but it's going to switch places with the desk this weekend. Hopefully that will help the arrangement in the Living Room. Sorry no pictures. It looks bad. Please ignore the mess in the mirror.
My bedroom is pretty basic at this point. I really like my bed against the brown walls. Blinds are hopefully arriving this next week.
The beauty outside is consistent, fog crept in this morning.

Earlier this week we got the perfect view of a rainbow.
What better decoration than a reminder of God's promise?

Sweet Love

I thought I'd show you a glimpse of a very precious wedding we attended this weekend.
Josh and his Uncle.
Lindsay and her Daddy.
Very special vows.
A beautiful reception with lots of handmade details.

My cousin and his youngest, Kimi.
Drew, Rachael, Jessica, Zach and Tara had fun dancing. We had a wonderful visit with family, but a tense drive home through the mountains in the wind, rain and snow.  So, glad we're home.  It was a lovely weekend, though.

Wedding Weekend

I had considerable "issues" this week with internet access. Again, I am up and running. It's amazing how disconnected I felt. When you can't use the internet, you realize how much you rely on it. What did we do "back in the day"? Well, I'm thankful for an iPhone that helped me limp through the annoyances.

We leave tomorrow for the wedding of my lovely "niece". I put quotes around her name, because she's really the daughter of my cousin. She feels more like a niece. I'm looking forward to the celebration with extended family. Enjoy the beautiful bouquets.

I'm not sure why I was attracted to all these golden bouquets.  The last one is my favorite.
Thank you Martha.

View From My Window

This is what I woke up to this morning. I just love it when it looks all foggy and hazy. Can you see the bird sitting on the wire? I whipped out my camera and took pictures.  Doesn't it look peaceful? I had anticipated a day of progress, but it wasn't to happen. Our new Hotspot died and I had to traipse, yes traipse, all over Kingdom Come to find a new one. I wonder how that term came into existence?Evidently there were only two Hotspots in existence in our area. One had died and the other one is now mine. Persistence has won out and I'm back online, yet again.
The sunrise was more colorful earlier in the week. I'm sure I'll be showing you pictures of that sometime.  You may get tired of seeing this view. I don't think I will.

A Peek at the Chaos

So a friend or two have asked for me to get photos on here. Now, these are NOT after photos. They are the chaos photos. Everything is SUCH a mess. There are things to do all over the place and I find myself flitting from one mess to the next. I end up working on something in the bedroom only to realize that I was previously trying to accomplish a task in the kitchen. I have also unpacked all my wedding china and all my Christmas china, but have yet to find my everyday dishes.  So goes the task of moving.
It looks all nice and orderly, doesn't it?
Well, take a step back.
Then turn around.
Look to the right. This is what happens when you go to the thrift store too often. Although most of what you see below is my good china. There are stacks of random pretty dishes that I have purchased over the years. My good friends that helped me unpack were amazed at my dishes. And I don't even participate in Thursday Tablescapes!!!
Below is the view of the Family Room.
The TV is already up and going. We've got our priorities straight, don't you know.
I've just thrown stuff into the pantry with no rhyme or reason. The organization will follow.
I just need to get it in there.

Buddy's trying to adjust to the new place too. Seems he can't figure out where to "go". So, alas, a puppy diaper was purchased today. He's not so sure about it. But, I had to do something!

All this just seems very trivial in light of the disaster in Japan. My HH was scheduled to travel there this Sunday, but that has been cancelled. I am so VERY THANKFUL that he wasn't there at the time. So, in the meantime, I'll be thankful for the normalcy of a blessed life and moving chaos.

Moving Begins, Internet Connection Ends

Hi, out there in the blogosphere.  Movers are here and the transition has begun.  I won't have any internet access after Tuesday for maybe days or weeks.  Verizon has to find us out in the country.  Hopefully it won't take too long.  I'll miss you!

Let The Sun Shine In

You know you're going to have to keep hearing about this new house, right?  Since we're smack dab in the middle of the moving process that's about all I have going on right now. So, it's either no blogging or new house blogging. This week has been a combination of packing and getting the new house ready for move in. The new refrigerator arrived! Woo Hoo! Considering the cost of this baby, it should cook the meals and serve them!  It is a "food preservation" system, don't you know?  I didn't. We'll see if I can keep it all shiny clean like this too. They used an awesome spray to clean it called Claire's Stainless Steel Cleaner.  It's industrial strength, I guess.  I'm going to have to get a supply.
Tuesday we had the floors and carpets cleaned. You don't need to see pictures of clean carpets. But, I sure was glad to get rid of the little critter presents. Yuck. Nobody has ever lived in this house, it's been empty for at least 3 years, except for critters.
Yesterday, we had the windows cleaned!  Love the sun pouring in.
This photo is extra fuzzy, but I sat some pictures on the mantle and just that little bit made it feel like it could maybe, possibly soon, feel like home.  More and more is being dismantled in the old house and it's feeling less and less like home.  I'm anxious to make the new house into a home.  Gotta go pack!
