One Skein Bubblegum Scarf

I've been gone again recently.  I flew out to help my in-laws pack up all their treasures in order to move in with my brother and sister-in-law.  They have a lot of treasures.  I could've taken pictures of the beautiful antiques that she has, but I was on a mission.  Had a job to get done.  Well, at least try and make a dent.  I think it's going to take awhile.  I didn't take the time to blog or even read blogs!  I know!  Crazy!

There was no sightseeing or fun shopping adventures. Not that I didn't shop. Did you know that Home Depot has pretty cheap boxes? Much cheaper than U-Haul and not to mention the exorbitant amounts that Budget charges for boxes. Geez! Highway robbery. If I lived closer I could've come up with free boxes.  But, I didn't have time for that.  No monkey business, just packing, and lots of it.
But, you see here that I did accomplish something creative on the plane rides. I knew my current projects wouldn't pass muster. Little tiny metal knitting needles are just asking for problems. So, I did some last minute Ravelry searches. I found a scarf that would use up the one and only skein I had of Zanziba. The pattern is here. Haley's turned totally different than mine. It made a light and airy scarf with pretty bubble gum colors. I used size 19 needles that I had, thank you very much. A heavy wool scarf is just not usable in my neck of the woods, or should I say city. The stitch is called the Purse Stitch. It did the trick.

Friday Flowers - Thankfulness

This little askew embroidered flower is a departure from the usual beautiful blooms on Fridays. I think it fits because I love gardening, beautiful flowers and am thankful for the opportunities it has brought me over the years.  Master Gardening and garden clubs have brought me many lovely friends. My yard is getting the best of me these days, but I still love to putter.  This was my first square.

Take A Walk With Me

I thought I'd take a shorter walk today.

Then I got lost.

My cell phone came in handy.
No I didn't have to call for help.
Or use the GPS Application.
I decided to pay attention to the interesting, beautiful, or captivating things along the way.  That's probably a good way to look at any diversion or detour, isn't it?  Here's a little 70's architecture and an ocean view for you.

thankful for. . .

What crafty thing can you do when you have no sewing machine, are on an airplane or vacation?  Well, besides my never ending knitting projects, I decided to begin a Thankfulness Sampler. This was not my original idea. In fact, it's similar to a project that Amy from Inspire Co did called 39 Years. Here is her finished sampler. She even had a blog specifically about it and others joined in. She had a new suggestion that I don't think went anywhere, but it stayed in the back of my mind and simmered.  Embroider one inch squares to document what you're thankful for.  So, while headed on a trip to visit family, I began.  I'm not very far along, so this may take awhile.

{love}

I'm thankful for not only the love of my husband, girls and parents, but especially for the unconditional love of God that never fails.

Upcycled Inspiration

I just bought the newest issue of GreenCraft by Stampington and Company.  You can buy it here, or at your favorite bookstore. Every time I get one it makes me want to sift through the trash, go to the thrift store and dig through drawers.  I am not near my sewing room this week, so instead of creating my own fun creations out of discards, I decided to see what others have made.  Enter Etsy search. . .

Look at what fun things I've found.

Floral Fridays

{country living}
Okay, Berry Friday.  But, there had to be flowers before berries and it is a very berry season right now.  It's a beautiful wreath and those are my excuses.

40 Years in the Making

I'm so excited about this little room, that I don't care if it's not perfectly decorated yet. I've been officially sewing since I was in the 7th grade. That was A LONG time ago. I have never had my own sewing room. I've sewn on the kitchen table, in the Master Bedroom, in a big closet. All over the place, but never my own room. Finally, here it is! At this point things are just piled up in here. I have a long way to go with the organization. But, just since Sunday, I've already done some mending and started a new project!
I've got a lot to work with, though.  This was our guest room that I previously posted here.  I have vintage curtains, and pretty rose paintings; four are real, two are Home Goods.  Now I've got to rearrange them around my new needs. I have fun plans for this little floor lamp.  My daughter's IKEA desk works for now, till she needs it back.
I can get my Serger off the bookshelf soon. The bolster project will be finished this week!

This little guy likes his new digs.  Please ignore the dirty window. Yikes!
I have a lovely view when I'm sewing.

And my wonderful Pandora radio station keeps me company.
So does Buddy.
Here's a hint of my next project.

An Antique A Day - Part Two

After enjoying the Urban Barn, we headed over to Old Town Escondido for lunch and more antiquing.  Isn't this a lovely little lady?

You see all kinds of things. This little guy reminded me of my Mom's kitchen in the 70's. Didn't you know that owls are cool again?
We had lunch at the little French bistro, A Delight of France.  It's no wonder it's a busy place, they have great food and awesome pastries. I should've taken pictures of the incredible eclair that we SHARED!

Evidently Friday is Cruise night in Escondido.  The cars, they were a changing.

An Antique A Day

Had a fun day of antique shopping today with my friend Kathy.  She's a blog stalker and doesn't like her picture taken. But fun to shop with!  We checked out a fairly new place called Urban Barn in Escondido, California. Check out their blog and see what they're up to. They have a lot of exciting events coming this Fall.

I loved the colors of these hats.
A very cute beachy display.
This HUGE cabinet was sold, but would hold a TON of sewing and crafting supplies.

Can you imagine applying all of these shells to this china cabinet?  It was definitely a one-of-a-kind!

Isn't this swing adorable?

Go and visit Linda and Mary at the Urban Barn, you'll love it!
I'll post pictures of what I bought next time.
