Anxiously Waiting

Do you remember when you were a child and how excited you were about Christmas?I couldn't wait till it was time to open presents. I don't remember really believing in Santa Claus, but I remember the anticipation. As an adult it became my job to set the stage for my family.Well, the stage has been set. After tonight I can relax and enjoy our traditions.

I made these trees in the early 90's. I think they would be cute out of some vintage paper for next year.
I especially am liking this.
A good friend helped me fluff up my nativity this year.
This sled was Hunky Husband's when he was little.
I suppose, if you really want to, you could click on the photo and see what I used to look like with dark hair.  Those are our first Christmas together and each of my daughter's first Christmas.
Love Hammond's Candy Canes.
I just bought my fun bottle at the Rose Bowl Flea Market last Sunday. I think it looks just fine in my kitchen.
I found this adorable ornament at an antique store and the blue garland at Anthropologie.
I'm going to now take a step back and enjoy the days with some baking, wrapping, Christmas movies and time with my family. I hope you do too!

  1. You made a point there...we set the stage. Except I am still setting!! One thing is for sure...it will be done in time for Christmas!

Your nativity looks wonderful with the greenery around it. I love the paper trees you made...if you make them next year, let us see how. I love them! All of your decorations are great! How neat that hubby still has his sled. How do people hold on to these things?

    Happy holidays, Karen!

  2. So many pretty things. I love those paper trees that you made and that hutch in the bottom picture is fabulous! Is that cotton pods hanging on the left door of it?

  3. Something tells me Buddy is waiting for the mailman! :-) Thank you for sharing your lovely home at Christmas, Karen. I so appreciate the way you've combined the old and new to bring the spirit of Christmas in your home. I'll be "borrowing" your ideas next year. BTW, have you seen "Joyeux Noel"? A wonderful holiday movie that gives us all some hope. I saw it last Christmas for the first time--will watch again this year.
