Faux Acorns

I've lived all over the country, on each Coast and several states in between. I've learned that every place has it's strengths and weaknesses. And everywhere I live, I miss something about the last place. I'm not even talking about people. I'm referring to nature. The beauty of the area, the hills, the wildflowers, the trees, even the rocks. Every place has it's own special beauty. It's in the Fall that I especially miss Massachusetts. Not only are the trees there indescribable, but there are the rose hips, the pine cones, the winterberry, and the bittersweet. In the Spring I would pick pussy willows. I could just go on a walk and treasures awaited. It helped that we lived quite far from the city.

I miss acorns from the Midwest. I picked some up recently when I went home. But, there are no acorns here in SoCal. I don't think Live Oaks have acorns. So, I had to resort to finding my acorns on Etsy. Love Etsy. Now real acorns aren't white and red and green, but that's the fun of felted acorns. You can find these fabulous acorns, here.

  1. These are precious, Karen, and Lisa is selling them at quite a bargain for the craftsmanship involved.

  2. I would so miss the change of seasons, especially fall! I love walking along our country lane, picking up acorns, winter berries, rosehips...and making winter garden displays for my home!

  3. There are tons of acorns in SoCal. And, lots of different kinds. You just have to know where to look. In fact, the oaks seem to be making lots of them this year. :-) And, I just clipped off lots of rose hips from one of my rose bushes this last weekend. We definitely don't have the color though. I would sure love that! I don't think we have pussy willows though. I'm not even sure how they grow...are they trees? Or shrubs? Or? They're so cute!

  4. Karen,

In response to your comment...Vegas was quite cool for...well, Vegas!! Low 80's and at night, low 60's!! Very pleasant. Sorry about your heat wave. I hope it ends soon. We are doing well here in Chicago, mid 60's, pretty normal for October...

  5. Thank you so much for featuring my wee woolies here! It makes me happy to know that they're bringing you fond memories of the midwest. They certainly represent home for me, and I can't imagine an autumn without them. Now, if I could only figure out how to make hickory nuts, my own midwest memories would be complete... :D
