I thought I'd show you another room. This is DD2's room. It is basically finished. Someday I'm planning on slipcovering a chair out of the black and creme toile. This pillow is entirely hand embroidered. It took me FOREVER. But, I didn't know of anywhere to get it done this large. I like it.
I used a projector to get this design on the wall. It took me forever to start it and only a few minutes to actually paint it. The dresser I found in an antique store. I had planned on a lower, white dresser with a large mirror over it, but really like how this worked out and she has more storage. The picture frame still needs a picture in it.
I ordered this linen on ebay, washed it many times and made this coverlet. The headboard we used in her sister's hot pink and orange bedroom with a queen size bed. I think it works great here. The pictures are sketches from a design class that I found at the Rose Bowl flea market for about $4 a piece. I just put them into Target frames in glass. I repurposed bolsters from Ikea that had been green faux fur. Taking off the covers and making new ones out of toile. She loves it when she's home.
Whoa, that's an amazing room you did!

Beautiful!! I just bought the Breakfast at Tiffany's poster at Target (3 of Holly Golightly's photos from the movie horizontal) and mounted in a black frame for my daughter's kitchen. Love the elegance of that era and you did an awesome job on that pillow! Blessings, Shay

ReplyDeleteI've just found you! I see a couple of my friends have left comments here. Had no idea about your wonderful blog.
I love this room. Great work with the monogram. Just simply gorgeous!
I'm preparing to redo our dining room, in a color similar to Tiffany Blue. Wonderful color.

Hi Karen,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and thanks for your nice comments :)
I LOVE your dd's room! I LOVE HOUNDSTOOTH! I think it comes from watching Regis and Kathy Lee in the 90's....she was always wearing a houndstooth jacket it seemed...but actually I used to wear it in the 80's, too, it was BIG then, like my hair ;)
I would love to add that fashion touch to my room, but I doubt dh would like it much, lol ;) Darn! And I have no daughters either, so I guess I cannot copy this idea anywhere in my house...but I definitely will send folks your way if they are looking for ideas for their dd's :)
I am going to add you to my bloglist, nice to meet you:)
Bella
I love this room!
